What are Fields and how to customize them for bugs?

With Fields, you can modify default fields say like "Severity", "Priority" or add your own custom text, numeric or date fields for greater customization of data collected for a bug. 

 

Follow the required steps to rename default fields like severity or add your own custom field. In addition, you can simply drag and drop to reorder the fields values.

 

Edit default fields like Severity, Module field

To edit a default Severity field, click edit pencil icon. Edit fieldname say like Severness and click save icon and this updates your fieldname from Severity to Severness.

To edit field values for this click Edit Values link and this opens a small action pop-up with default severities like showstopper, critical, major, minor. Now click a particular value, edit and save the changes. 

 

For example, If you wish to edit field values for Severity say Showstopper field, click edit icon next to Showstopper make changes to say something like Emergency and Click save will update the field value from Showstopper to Emergency

 

Follow similar procedure for Module, Classification and Is Reproducible fields.

Reorder fields

To reorder field values for this click Reorder link and this opens a small action pop-up with default modules. Just drag and drop to reorder the module values from righ to left and vice versa and click Save Order saves the latest order of field values.

 

For example, If you wish to reorder field values for Module fields, just drag and drop ERP Phase I module from right to left and vice versa and save the changes.

 

Follow similar procedure for Severity, Classification and Is Reproducible fields.

Add custom fields like text, numeric or date field

Create your own text, numeric and date field to track bugs the way you want using custom fields. For Eg: add a custom field called Customer ID to keep track of bugs reported by your customers.
 

To create a custom filed, click link Add Custom Fields and this opens a Add Custom Fields pop-up along with three tabs Text, Numeric and Date. Select and create your a text or numeric or date field.

 

1. Text field

Select Text tab, here type a label name, description, select user permissions (Project/ Client or All Users), field type and provide the default value. This default value appears as a default for your text field and click Add Custom field creates a new text field for your bugs.

 

Note : Maximum of 12 additional text fields are allowed.

2. Numeric field

Select Numeric tab, here type a label name, description, select user permissions (Project/ Client or All Users), field type and click Add Custom field creates a new numeric field Eg: Priority for your bugs.

 

Note : Maximum of 4 additional numeric fields are allowed.

3. Date field

Select Numeric tab, here type a label name, description, select user permissions (Project/ Client or All Users), field type and click Add Custom field creates a new date field say Eg: Completed Date for your bugs.

 

Note : Maximum of 4 additional date fields are allowed.
