POS Terminals
Zoho Payments' POS Terminals let you accept in-person payments at your store counter, warehouse, or event to collect card, UPI, and QR payments, and print receipts directly from the device.
Each terminal comes with the Zoho Payments app pre-installed and is registered against your Zoho Payments account, so payments collected on it are always tied back to your account. You can send invoices directly from your Zoho Finance app or your ERP to the terminal for customers to pay on the spot, or accept one-time payments without creating an invoice. The payments collected are paid out on a daily basis.
How Does a POS Terminal Work?
Here’s the complete flow, from ordering a terminal to getting paid.
- Order and activate: You order a terminal from the POS Terminals module. Zoho Payments processes the order, and an engineer installs and activates the device on-site, or ships it to you for self-activation using an OTP.
- Collect payments: Use the terminal to fetch invoice payments pushed from your billing application or collect one-off payments directly on the device using card, UPI, or QR.
- Track and reconcile: Each payment is recorded against the device — you can view it in the terminal’s transaction history and batch reports, and in Zoho Payments, where transactions are clearly marked as originating from the terminal.
- Receive settlements: Payments are grouped into batches by a daily cutoff time and settled to your bank account the next day.
Scenario: Patricia owns a chain of home décor stores. While her online payments are automatically tracked, her in-store card payments come from a separate payment terminal. Every evening, her finance team spends hours matching terminal receipts with invoices and occasional mismatches delay closing the books.
After switching to the Zoho Payments POS Terminal, invoices are sent directly from their finance app to the terminal for customers to pay. Every in-store payment is automatically linked to its invoice and synced back to Zoho Payments.
