Eight Swift communities. Hundreds of Apple enthusiasts. One WWDC spark. The result?
We teamed up with IndeHub and eight Swift communities across India to host the IndeHub Hackathon: A nation-wide Apple dev hackathon powered by us.
July '25 was a busy month for us at Zoho Apptics, and surely a memorable experience for our team!
How it all started: From watch party to hackathon
It was on June 9, 2025, when all the Swift communities across India were watching a synchronized WWDC'25 watch party.
As developers exchanged interactions on the keynotes and the new features like liquid glass design, foundational AI models, and visual intelligence, an interesting idea came up.
"Why not host a nation-wide dev hackathon based on the new updates?"
And that's how the IndeHub hackathon was announced right at the end of the watch party.
The hackathon timeline
Registrations
After the official announcement, 1,500+ hackathon registrations started flooding in across cities and professionals. From freshers, college and school students, to experienced indie developers, we're reassured of heading towards the right direction.
Online hackathon
From July 12 to 17, all participants worked remotely to build apps based on the WWDC 2025 announcements. Our team did a great job supporting developers when they faced any challenges.
Hybrid semi-finals
On July 17 and 18, the jury panelists shortlisted the best teams for the semi-finals. Later on July 19, the Demo day was held across Chennai (Zoho office), Delhi (Radisson Blu hotel), Bengaluru (Kanini office), Surat (Online), Ahmedabad (Online), Mumbai (online), Kozhikode (online), and Hyderabad (Zoho Office).
The grand finale
Finally, the top teams from each region made it to the finals. They showcased their apps on July 26 at Apple Developer Centre in Bengaluru.
Every participant brought their creativity, innovation, and hard work to the table. Out of all the amazing teams, three apps that stood out the most were picked as winners:
- Word Jam: Fun yet thoughtful word game experience
- Expense Agent: Smart personal expense monitoring
- Zenther AI: Health and workout partner
Our achievements
We believe, a business thrives only when it empowers the ecosystem and community.
By hosting and sponsoring the IndeHub hackathon, we got the opportunity to directly engage with a highly skilled and enthusiastic Apple developer community in India.
We made the Zoho Apptics SDK available to everyone during the hackathon, and we were happy to see that more than 40 of the 60 finalists had integrated it into their apps.
The numbers that made this hackathon even more special:
1,500+ registrations, Hundreds developers, 60 finalists, 40+ apps using Apptics SDK, 8 cities. All in one hackathon.
We loved being a part of this journey and it was incredible to witness how Apple developers across India bring the freshest updates to life in their apps.
Here are a few pictures from the event that capture all the fun and energy!
This hackathon wasn’t just about coding apps or winning prizes. It was about building connections, learning together, and coming together as a vibrant community, showcasing how innovative and talented India’s Apple dev ecosystem is. And if given a chance again, we can’t wait to do it again!
