International Freight Assistance Mechanism

The Australian Government will allocate $110 million to help exporters get their high-quality produce into key overseas markets. Return flights will bring back items critical to the ongoing health response. This includes vital medical supplies, medicines, and equipment.

Eligibility criteria

The target is high-value agricultural and fisheries exports, predominantly for perishable products where Australian exporters have important established customers in overseas markets.

Eligible products may include:

  • seafood, including lobsters
  • premium red meat, including beef and pork
  • dairy, including fresh milk and yoghurt
  • horticulture, including premium fruits and packaged salad or vegetables

What it covers

Target countries will be determined by demand and freight optimisation criteria as advised by the International Freight Coordinator General.

The Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment is setting up an information line and a process to capture feedback from exporters.
