Ready to go back in time to know about Singapore history?

In 1947, the Accountant‑General’s Department (AGD) prepared Singapore’s first set of financial statements for the former crown colony—now the Republic of Singapore—laying the groundwork for state-level financial reporting. About 15 years down the line, the Singapore Society of Accountants (SSA), now the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA) was established to regulate and unify the accounting profession. Founded by just six accountants over sixty years ago, ISCA has grown into a national institution with more than 37,000 members, representing roughly one in every 160 Singaporeans.

Similar to accounting, Singapore’s reputation as a global business hub didn’t happen overnight, too. Its journey began centuries ago. At the heart of this story, is the thriving small and medium business community, which makes up over 99% of Singapore businesses, contributing nearly half of the GDP and employing 70% of the workforce.

Given the rich history of accounting and the vision of a digital economy, the need for smarter, better connected financial tools is more relevant than ever. This is where the Zoho Finance Suite comes in: built to help growing businesses manage their finances, streamline operations, and stay compliant in a fast-changing regulatory landscape.

Zoho Books for Singapore

Zoho Books is built to help Singapore businesses stay compliant with GST regulations, offering automated tax calculations and IRAS-ready F5 return generation.

It also supports e-invoicing compliance through Peppol standards, and will soon offer integration with InvoiceNow. From May 2025, submission was made voluntary for existing GST-registered companies; by November 2025, it’s mandatory for new voluntary registrants within six months of incorporation; and by April 2026, it extends to all new voluntary GST registrants.

Beyond compliance, Zoho Books also supports the renowned PayNow payment method for faster collections and uses AI-powered receipt capture to automate expense recording. The solution offers robust features, including core accounting, inventory tracking, bank reconciliation, and project management along with advanced capabilities like audit trails, order management, budgeting, and workflow automation. The built-in Zoho Analytics integration, which comes with Zia, Zoho’s AI assistant, empowers businesses with smart dashboards, financial insights, and predictive reporting for better decision-making.
