How the macOS Import Works
Open Notebook on Mac
Launch Zoho Notebook for macOS (version 4.0 or later). Go to Settings → Import → Apple Notes.
Choose What to Import
Select all notes or specific folders. Choose to preserve structure, merge tags, or skip password-protected notes (which cannot be imported).
Import & Sync
Notebook reads your Apple Notes database locally. Notes appear in Notebook and sync securely to your account.

FAQs & Troubleshooting
Will my Apple Notes stay on my Mac during import?
Yes. The entire import process happens on your Mac. Your Apple Notes remain untouched in the Apple Notes app.
Are my attachments (PDFs, images, videos) migrated?
Yes. All supported attachments are imported and embedded within your Notebook cards.
What happens to my Apple Notes folders and tags?
Folders become Notebooks. Tags are preserved. Nested folders are flattened but labeled accordingly.
Do I need an internet connection?
Not during import. After import, you need internet to sync to Zoho Notebook cloud.
Can I undo the import if something goes wrong?
Yes. Import creates new notebooks; your Apple Notes remain unchanged. You can delete imported content from Notebook anytime.
Can I import password-protected notes?
No. Password-protected notes cannot be imported. You'll need to unlock them in Apple Notes first, then import, and re-protect them in Notebook if desired.
What if I have thousands of notes?
The import may take a few minutes. Notebook will show progress. You can pause/resume anytime.
Is there a limit on import size?
No hard limit. However, extremely large imports (10,000+ notes) may require a Zoho Notebook premium plan.
