How do I add the custom duty charges involved with purchases from vendors outside India?

You can record the custom duty charges using a bill of entry. To create a bill of entry, you will have to enable the option My business is involved in SEZ/Overseas Trading. Here’s how:

  • Go to Settings in the top-right corner of the page.
  • Click Taxes under Taxes & Compliance.
  • Click GST Settings in the left menu.
  • Select the My business is involved in SEZ / Overseas Trading checkbox under Import/Export.
  • Select an account from the Custom Duty Tracking Account dropdown.
  • Click Save.

You can now record a bill of entry for the associated bill or create a new bill and record it. Here’s how:

  • Click the More icon in the respective bill’s Details page and select Create Bill of Entry.
  • Enter the details of the bill of entry, custom duty charges and other additional charges that you incurred for that transaction.
  • Click Save.
