Zoho Analytics Press Release
PLEASANTON, Calif. — December 15, 2009 — Zoho today announced the production release of Zoho Analytics, its online reporting and business intelligence application. Zoho Analytics emerges from its beta release with new features designed to further enhance users’ ability to visually analyze their business information.
“With Zoho Analytics, users can easily create and share powerful reports that help them gain new insights into their business — with no help from IT,” said Rodrigo Vaca, director of marketing at Zoho. “Users can upload or synchronize data from spreadsheets, Web or traditional applications; build reports and charts in minutes via the drag-and-drop interface; and then share their reports and dashboards with key performance indicators. Zoho Analytics wraps a powerful BI and reporting engine in a very user-friendly interface.”
Refining Zoho Analytics
As Zoho Analytics steps out of beta, it gains new features aimed at improving data presentation and visualization. New pricing has also been announced and can be found at Pricing page.
- Dashboard view. Users can collate similar reports and view them all on a single page. For instance, a dashboard page consisting of 10 reports can be displayed in a “5x2” (five rows and two columns) format.
- iGoogle gadget. Users can embed the gadget version of Zoho Analytics in their iGoogle home page, giving them ready access to their reports and dashboards from their iGoogle page.
- New pricing. In addition to the free version, Zoho Analytics offers paid plans starting at $15 per month.
The new features in Zoho Analytics round out an already-impressive set of capabilities that lets users easily perform a variety of tasks, such as:
- Upload any data. Zoho Analytics lets users securely upload spreadsheets and tabular data, such as .CSV, .TSV, .XLS or .HTML files. Of course, users can also add data directly using the spreadsheet-like interface.
- Push data from any application. Zoho Analytics works with hosted and traditional (in-house, behind a firewall) business applications and databases for reporting and analysis. Users can fetch and upload data into Zoho Analytics from Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL and MS Access databases. Automatic periodic uploads/synchronization is also supported.
- Drag-and-Drop interface. Users can visually analyze and build insightful reports and dashboards using a drag-and-drop interface, all by themselves.
- Use a variety of reporting components. Users have access to a wide range of reporting components, including charts, pivot tables, tabular view and dashboard components that ensure the most insightful report building and analysis possible.
- Query with SQL. Zoho Analytics lets users create powerful and flexible reports with SQL queries written in any database dialect/syntax.
- Collaborative analysis. Users can develop reports together, enabling informed, collaborative business decisions. Reports can easily be shared with fine-grained access control, giving the report owner control over data and reports being shared.
- Embed reports anywhere. Zoho Analytics encourages widespread consumption of business intelligence by enabling users to embed reports in websites, intranets, blogs, applications and Microsoft SharePoint Server.
- Secure all data and reports. Zoho Analytics maintains a highly secure environment for all user data. Access to data and reports is secured with a proper user name and password, via HTTPS (SSL connection) network connectivity. All data and reports are hosted in highly secure datacenters, which offer redundancy, backup and continuity.
“We had people tracking data and reports with Excel spreadsheets and passing them around,”said John Kubenka, CMMS administrator for CH2M Hill, a global leader in engineering, procurement, construction, management and operations for government, civil, industrial and energy clients. “Needless to say, some people would not update their spreadsheet to the current and then use old data to make changes. We lost control of the data and reporting. I needed a reporting database in which everyone could access the information and reports, but one person could control. Zoho Analytics did the job for us. It has been very beneficial, and we are again using the data and reports with confidence.”
