Visit our [pricing page](https://www.zoho.com/books/pricing/)to check if it’s available in your current plan. Businesses use various strategies to sell products, such as offering discounts to loyal customers or providing seasonal discounts. With Price Lists, you can set custom rates for the items you buy from vendors or sell to customers. You can adjust item rates either by applying a percentage change or by setting custom prices. ## Enable Price Lists To enable price lists in Zoho Books: * Go to **Settings**, and select **Items** under _Items_. * In the _General_ tab, check the **Enable Price Lists** in the **Price Lists** section. * Check the option **Apply price list at line item level** if you want to apply different price lists for line items in the transactions you record in Zoho Books. * Click **Save**. The price lists feature will be enabled in your organization. * * * ## Create Price Lists The price list is created for an item based on two main factors: * **Percentage:** Increase or decrease the item’s price by a percentage. * **Price:** Set a unique price for each item. To create a price list: * Go to _Items_ on the left sidebar and select **Price Lists**. * Click **\+ New Price List** in the top right corner. * In the _New Price List_ page, enter the **Name** of the price list. * Select **Sales** as the _Transaction Type_ if you want to apply the price list to your customers, or select **Purchases** if you want to apply the price list to your vendors. * Select **All Items** as the _Price List Type_ if you want to apply the price list for all items included in a transaction. * Select **Markup** in the Percentage dropdown and enter the required percentage if you want to increase the total cost of the items in a transaction. * Select **Markdown** in the dropdown and enter the required percentage if you want to decrease the total cost of items in a transaction. * Select **Individual Items** as the _Price List Type_ if you want to apply the price list for line items individually. * Select **Unit Pricing** as the _Pricing Scheme_ to provide a custom rate for individual line items. * Select **Volume Pricing** and provide a **Start Quantity** and an **End Quantity** in the _Item Table_. When an item is bought in this range of quantity, the price list will be applied to the line item. * You can also update the item rates at bulk. To do this: * Click **Update Rates in Bulk** below _Customize Rates in Bulk_. * Select the line items you want to update. * Click **Update Rates in Bulk** at the top of the item table. * In the pop-up that appears, update the required fields and click **Update**. The items will be updated accordingly. **Note:** You can update item rates at bulk only for **Individual Items** price list type. * Select the **Currency** from the dropdown for which you want to apply the price list. The base currency of the organization will be selected by default. If no other currency is selected, the same price list will be applied to transactions that are recorded with a foreign currency. * Check the option **I want to include a discount percentage for the items** to apply an additional discount percentage for the line item. This will be applied only if discounts are enabled at the line item level in a transaction. * Provide a short **Description** if required. * Click **Save**. The price list will be created. When you apply it in a transaction, the costs of the line item will be updated accordingly. * * * ## Apply Price Lists You can apply price lists to a transaction in two ways: * [At Transaction Level](/za/books/help/items/price-list.html#transaction) * [At Line Item Level](/za/books/help/items/price-list.html#line-item) ### At Transaction Level When you apply a price list at the transaction level, it is applied to all the line items associated with the transaction. However, you can also change the price list associated with a line item. To apply a price list at the transaction level: * Create a transaction and enter the required details. * Select the required price list from the dropdown at the top of the _Item Table_. The costs of the line item will be updated accordingly. ### At Line Item Level The price list is applied to individual line items and does not affect the other line items associated with the transaction. To apply a price list at the line item level: * Create a transaction and enter the required details. * In the _Item Table_, select the required price list you want to apply for the line item in the _Rate_ column. The costs of the line item will be updated accordingly. * * * ## Mark as Inactive If you no longer need a price list in your business, you can mark it as inactive. To do this: * Go to _Items_ on the left sidebar and select **Price Lists**. * Hover over the required price list and click **Mark as Inactive**. The price list will be displayed with the **Inactive** label. You can again mark it as **Active** to use the price list. * * * ## Delete Price List To delete a price list: * Go to _Items_ on the left sidebar and select **Price Lists**. * Hover over the required price list and click the **Delete** icon. * In the pop-up that appears, click **Ok**. The price list will be deleted. * * * ## Import Price Lists To import price lists: * Go to _Items_ on the left sidebar and select **Price Lists**. * Click the _More_ icon in the top right corner and select **Import Sales Price List** or **Import Purchases Price List** from the dropdown. * Click **Choose File** to upload the import file. You can download a **sample file** for your reference. * Click **Next**. * In the _Map Fields_ page, check if the fields are correctly mapped with the headers of the import file. * Click **Next**. * In the _Preview_ page, click **Import**. The price lists will be imported. * * * ## Export Price Lists To export price lists: * Go to _Items_ on the left sidebar and select **Price Lists**. * Click the _More_ icon in the top right corner and select **Export Sales Price Lists** or **Purchase Price Lists** from the dropdown. * In the pop-up that appears, enter the required details: * Select the **Module** you want to export. * Select the **Export Template** in which you want to export the items. If you do not have a template created, click **\+ New Template** from the dropdown. * In the _New Export Template_ pop-up, enter the **Template Name**. * Select the fields available in Zoho Books that you want to display in the export template. For each selected field, enter the name that will appear in the export file. * Click **Save and Select**. * Enter the **Decimal Format** of the amount that will be displayed in the export file. * Select the **Export File Format** in which you want to export the file. * Provide a **Password** for your export file, if required. * Click **Export**.
