Tax Authority

A tax authority is a government agency that enforces tax laws and collects taxes from people and businesses in its area. In Zoho Spend, associating a tax authority with a specific tax rate helps you track and apply the correct taxes while creating transactions for vendors.

Create Tax Authority

Here’s how you can create a new tax authority:

  • Go to Settings on the left sidebar.
    (OR)
    Click Settings in the top right corner of the page.
  • Click Taxes under Taxes & Compliance.
  • Go to the Tax Authorities pane.
  • Click + New Tax Authority in the top right corner.
  • On the New Tax Authority pop-up, enter the following details:
    • Tax Authority: Enter the name of the tax authority.
    • State: Select the state where the tax authority is located from the dropdown.
    • Description: Provide description, if necessary.
  • Click Save.

Bulk Create Tax Authority

If your business deals with multiple tax authorities, instead of creating them individually, you can save time by bulk creating the required tax authorities. Here’s how:

  • Go to Settings on the left sidebar.

    Click Settings in the top right corner of the page.
  • Click Taxes under Taxes & Compliance.
  • Go to the Tax Authorities pane.
  • Click the dropdown next to + New Tax Authority and select Bulk Create Tax Authorities.
  • Enter the following details:
    • Tax Authority: Enter the name of the tax authority.
    • State: Select the state where the tax authority is located from the dropdown.
    • Description: Provide description, if necessary.
  • Click + New Tax Authority to add more tax authorities.
  • Click x next to the tax authority you’ve added to remove it.
  • Click Save.

Delete Tax Authority

Here’s how you can delete a tax authority:

  • Go to Settings on the left sidebar.
    (OR)
    Click Settings in the top right corner of the page.
  • Click Taxes under Taxes & Compliance.
  • Go to the Tax Authorities pane.
  • Hover over the tax authority you want to delete and click the Delete icon.
  • Confirm your action by clicking OK in the pop-up.

You can also delete the tax authorities in bulk. Here’s how:

  • Go to Settings on the left sidebar.

    Click Settings in the top right corner of the page.
  • Click Taxes under Taxes & Compliance.
  • Go to the Tax Authorities pane.
  • Select the tax authorities you want to delete and click Delete in the top pane.
  • Confirm your action by clicking OK in the pop-up.
