# How is stock tracking done in Zoho Inventory?

Zoho Inventory has two modes of stock tracking:

*   **Accounting Stock:** In this mode, your stock will increase when a Bill is raised and the stock will decrease when an an Invoice is sent out to the customer.
    
*   **Physical Stock:** In this mode, your stock will increase when a Purchase Receive is made, and the stock will decrease when a Shipment is sent out to the customer.
    

To view the current mode or to select a new one, navigate to **Settings -> Preferences -> General -> Mode of Stock tracking**.
