What actions can increase or decrease the stock of a composite item in Zoho Inventory?

Actions that increase the stock of a composite item

  • Entering an Opening Stock: If you already have some stock on hand at the time of creating the composite item, then you can enter the value in the opening stock field. This will increase the availability of the composite item and will not affect the stock of the associated items.

  • Bundling: Bundling is the process of putting together different inventory items and services in desired quantities and thus producing a composite item. When you bundle the associated items, the stock on hand of that composite item goes up and the stock of the associated items decreases based on the number of bundles created. Know how.

  • Action No.3 - Adjusting Stock: You can adjust stock of a composite item for any reason to account for unexpected losses, gains or errors in stock counting. Know how.

Actions that decrease the stock of a composite item

  • Making a sale: When you sell a composite item(raise a sales order, invoice, package, ship), the stock automatically goes down. This is effected appropriately based on your chosen mode of stock tracking under organization profile of the settings module.

  • Deleting a bundle: When a bundle is deleted, the stock level of a composite item decreases while the stock level of the associated items increases. Learn how you can delete a bundle.
