Best Practices for Accurate Ride Detection
In this section, we’ll list some of the best practices you have to follow to ensure that your rides are tracked accurately.
- Open the Zoho Expense app regularly
Opening the app regularly, at least once every three days, helps in properly syncing your rides with Zoho Expense. Some rides might not get synced into Zoho Expense due to varying reasons. Opening the app regularly will ensure that all your rides are synced properly.
- Turn on Mobile Data
Turning on mobile data on your device will allow Zoho Expense to track your rides with enhanced accuracy. Tracking will still work if mobile data is off, but with less accuracy, and the addresses will not be fetched.
- Click Allow for the pop-up, Zoho Expense Has Been Using Your Location In The Background. Do You Want to Continue Allowing This?
When you set the Location Access for Zoho Expense to Always on your iPhone, it may occasionally show the pop-up “Zoho Expense Has Been Using Your Location In The Background. Do You Want to Continue Allowing This?” When you see this pop-up, choose Allow. Zoho Expense requires access to your location to track your rides accurately. Selecting Don’t Allow will result in the Automatic Mileage Tracking feature not working.
- Don’t disable the Automatic Mileage Tracking feature
The Automatic Mileage Tracking feature has to be enabled on your Zoho Expense iOS app to track your rides. If you do disable the feature, ensure that you enable it when you start a ride.
- Add Zoho Expense to the whitelist or ignore list of third-party apps
Third-party app management, memory boosting, data compression, task-killing, battery saving, anti-virus apps may interfere with Zoho Expense’s ability to track your rides as they may limit background data, app activity, battery usage. If you’ve installed such apps on your device, ensure that you add Zoho Expense to the whitelist or ignore list of these apps.
- Check your iPhone’s Offload Unused Apps settings
If you’ve enabled Offload Unused Apps on your iPhone and you haven’t opened Zoho Expense in a while, iOS may offload Zoho Expense due to your iPhone’s storage. The app will still be available, but it’ll have a download icon. Tap the app to download it, open Zoho Expense, and log in to your account.
To check if you’ve enabled Offload Unused Apps, go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage.
- Use the latest version of Zoho Expense
Using the latest version of Zoho Expense ensures that the performance of the app does not affect ride tracking.
- Use the latest version of iOS
Using the latest version of iOS supported by your iPhone will provide the latest features to support and protect background apps like Zoho Expense.
