# How do I delete an item?

To delete an item:

*   Log in to your Zoho Books account.
*   Go to _Items_ on the left sidebar, and select **Items**.
*   Choose the item you want to delete.
*   Click the **More** icon and select **Delete** from the dropdown.
*   In the pop-up, click **Delete** to confirm the deletion.

Once you complete the above steps, the selected item will be deleted.

**Note:** If the item is part of any transactions, you cannot delete it until those transactions are deleted. Instead, you can make them inactive.

To mark an item inactive:

*   Go to _Items_ on the left sidebar, and select **Items**.
*   Choose the item you want to mark as inactive and click the **More** icon in the top right corner of the page.
*   Select **Mark as Inactive**.

Now, the selected item will be marked as inactive and can again be marked as active anytime.
