My HMRC connection has expired and is no longer valid. How do I reauthorise?

When you connect your Zoho Books organisation to HMRC, the authorisation is valid for up to 18 months. After this period, or if the authorisation token becomes invalid for other reasons such as changes to your HMRC account, you will not be able to submit quarterly updates until you reauthorise the connection.

To reauthorise if the 18-month validity has lapsed:

  • Go to Settings.
  • Select Taxes under Taxes & Compliance.
  • In the Taxes pane, select Income Tax under Other Taxes.
  • Click Do It Now > in the warning banner to be redirected to HMRC’s website.
  • Enter your credentials and click Sign in.

Your connection will be refreshed, and you can continue submitting quarterly updates.

If the token has become invalid for other reasons, a Reauthorise button will appear on the Making Tax Digital for Income Tax page.

To reauthorise:

  • Go to Settings.
  • Select Taxes under Taxes & Compliance.
  • In the Taxes pane, select Income Tax under Other Taxes.
  • Click Reauthorise near the Disconnect button. You’ll be redirected to HMRC’s website.
  • Enter your credentials and click Sign in.

Your connection will be refreshed, and you can resume submitting quarterly updates.
