How can I allow my accountant to access and submit MTD for Income Tax returns on my behalf in Zoho Books?

You can create a custom role with the required MTD Income Tax permissions and assign it to your accountant. Here’s how:

  • Go to Settings.
  • Select Roles under Users and Roles.
  • Click New Role.
  • Enter a Role Name.
  • Under MTD Income Tax, enable the required permissions for the accountant:
    • View and Generate Quarterly Updates
    • Send Updates to HMRC
    • Export Quarterly Updates
    • View Income Tax Settings
    • Manage Income Tax Settings
    • View Agent Invitation Details
    • Manage Agent Invitation
  • Configure any other required permissions.
  • Click Save.
  • Invite the accountant to your Zoho Books organisation and assign the new role.

If the accountant connects to HMRC as an agent, they must also be authorised as an agent by HMRC.
