What is the difference between pausing a subscription and postponing its next billing date?

Pausing subscriptions is meant as a way to stop billing or providing services to your customers for a particular period of time and then resume them when necessary.

Postponing the next billing date can almost serve the same purpose, with the exception that the postponed billing date cannot be before the next billing date. So, if you want to stop services for your customer for a period of time within the current billing cycle, you will have to pause and resume their subscription instead of postponing its next billing date.

Postponing the next billing date can be useful for situations where you want to provide your customers with an extended period of service, free of cost. For example, offering 10 additional days of service as compensation for service interruptions or as a reward for referrals.
