PRIVACY NOTICE TO PARENTS

This privacy notice describes the information processed by Zoho when your child uses our services under a family account managed by you.

How we handle child's information

We do not collect or require information from your child unless it is reasonably necessary to provide the service. We will have information about your child only if (a) you or your child has provided the information to us, or (b) we have automatically collected certain essential information about your child in connection with their use of our services.

Below we describe the various scenarios that fall under each of those two categories and the information collected in each one.

Information that you provide us

i. Setting up your child's account : While setting up your child's account as part of your family account, we ask for your child's information such as their first and last name. You may also provide us with optional information such as your child's photo (as their profile picture) and contact number. You'll also be required to choose a unique username and a password for your child's account. Other information such as country, time zone and language for your child's account will be based on the information that you have provided while signing up for your family account.

ii. Interactions with Zoho: We may record, analyze and use your child's interactions with us, including your child's communication via email, telephone, chat conversations and form submissions with our sales and customer support professionals, for improving our services and future interactions.

Information that we collect regarding service usage

i. Information from browsers, devices and servers: When your child visits our websites, we collect certain essential information that your child's web browsers, mobile devices and servers make available, such as the internet protocol address, browser type, language preference, time zone, referring URL, date and time of access, operating system, mobile device manufacturer and mobile network information. We include these in our log files to understand more about visitors to our websites.

ii. Information from cookies: We use temporary and permanent cookies to identify users of our services and to enhance user experience. We also use first-party Local Storage Objects (LSOs) such as HTML5 to store content information and preferences to provide certain features like offline mode. Purposes for using information

In addition to the purposes mentioned above, we may use your child's information for the following purposes :

  • To set up and maintain your child's account, and to do all other things required for providing our services, such as enabling collaboration, providing website and mail hosting, and backing up and restoring your child's data;
  • To understand how your child uses our products and services, to monitor and prevent problems, and to improve our products and services;
  • To send certain essential communications to your child;
  • To provide customer support, and to analyze and improve our interactions with customers;
  • To detect and prevent fraudulent transactions and other illegal activities, to report spam, and to protect the rights and interests of Zoho, Zoho’s users, third parties and the public.

Information Sharing

(i) Information that Zoho shares: We share information relating to your child with our relevant group entities and other third parties as mentioned in our general privacy policy.

(ii) Information that your child may share: Your child may share information relating to them or other information in their account with their contacts and publicly using certain features. We provide you with certain parental controls so that you can manage how your child shares information with others. You can click here to know more about the parental controls available.

Legal bases for collecting and using your child's information

(i) Legal processing bases applicable to Zoho: Wherever applicable, we process the information relating to your child based on your verifiable parental consent. We may be required to verify your identity to ensure that you are eligible to provide the consent. To verify your identity, we may ask you to add and verify your credit card, debit card or other online payment method.

If you are from EEA or UK
Most of our information collection and processing activities are typically based on (i) contractual necessity, (ii) one or more legitimate interests of Zoho or a third party that are not overridden by your child's data protection interests, or (iii) your or your child's consent (as applicable).

(ii) Withdrawal of Consent: You have the right to withdraw the consent at anytime. You may ask us to stop processing data relating to your child by sending an email to privacy@zohocorp.com, but this will not affect any processing that has already taken place.

(iii) Legitimate interests notice : Where we rely on legitimate interests as the legal basis and those legitimate interests are not specified above, we will clearly explain to you what those legitimate interests are at the time we collect your child's information.

Your Choice in Information Processing by Us

(i) Disable cookies: You or your child can disable the browser cookies of your child's device before visiting our websites. However, if the browser cookies are disabled, certain functionalities of our websites or services may be affected.

(ii) Optional information: At the time of creating your child's account, you can choose not to provide optional profile information such as your child's photo. Your child can also delete or change his/her optional profile information.

Parental Rights

You can access, review, correct, and delete information relating to your child by signing in the child's account. If you want to delete all the information relating to your child, you can also delete the child's account by following the steps mentioned here.
