How do I create a subscription in online (auto-debit) mode?

First, save the customer’s payment details, then create the subscription in online mode.

Step 1: Collect the customer’s payment details

Before creating the subscription, make sure the customer’s payment details are saved in their record in Zoho Billing.

  • Go to Customers.
  • Select the customer for whom you want to set up auto-debit.
  • Click the More dropdown and select Request Payment Information.
  • Zoho Billing will send an email to the customer with a secure link to enter their payment details.
Note: The customer must consent to saving their payment information for future transactions. Once they submit their details, the saved payment method will appear in their customer record in Zoho Billing.

Step 2: Create the subscription in online mode

Once the customer’s payment details are saved, create the subscription and associate the payment method.

  • Go to Subscriptions under Sales.
  • Click New.
  • Fill in the required subscription details.
  • In the Payment Mode section, uncheck the Collect Payment Offline checkbox.
  • Click Continue.
  • On the next screen, select the saved payment method you want to associate with this subscription.
  • Click Save.

The subscription is now set to online mode and your customer will be charged automatically on every renewal.
