Detects potential U.S. Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers (ITINs) used for federal tax reporting by individuals who are not eligible for a Social Security Number (SSN).

Format

The U.S. Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) consists of 9 numeric digits and must begin with the digit 9. The fourth and fifth digits (group number) must fall within the allowed ranges of 50–59, 60–65, 70–79, 80–88, 90–92, or 94–99. ITINs may optionally include hyphens or spaces as separators, but must not contain any other characters and must always maintain the correct 9-digit structure.
