# Multi-Level Approval

In Multi-Level Approval, a transaction must be approved by multiple approvers in a defined order. When a transaction is submitted, it is sent to the Level 1 approver. Once they approve it, it moves to the Level 2 approver, and so on, until the final-level approver approves it.

## Enable Multi-Level Approval

To enable Multi-Level Approval for a module:

*   Go to **Settings** in the top right corner of the page.
*   Navigate to the module for which you want to enable approval.
*   Click the **Approvals** tab.
*   Select **Multi-Level Approval** under _Approval Type_.
*   Under _Set the Approval Hierarchy_, select the approver for **Level 1**.
*   Click **Add New Level** to add another level and select the approver. You can configure up to **10 levels of approval**.
*   Configure the _Approval Preferences_ and _Notification Preferences_ as required.
*   Click **Save**.

**Note:** You can drag and reorder the levels to change the approval hierarchy.

## Approval Preferences

Check **Allow approvers to approve the transactions they create** if you want approvers to be able to approve transactions they have submitted themselves.

## Notification Preferences

*   Check **Send email and in-app notifications when transactions are submitted for approval** to notify approvers. In Multi-Level Approval, the notification is sent to the Level 1 approver first; once they approve, the next-level approver is notified, and so on through the hierarchy.
*   Check **Notify the submitter when a transaction is approved or rejected** to notify the submitter of the approval outcome.
