# Agent Skills

Agent Skills are Zoho Payments-specific instructions for your AI agent. Install them once, and your AI agent gains the context it needs to generate working Zoho Payments integration code.

## Why Your AI Agent Needs Skills

AI agents are useful at general tasks, but payment integrations are different. For example, skipping webhook signature verification means your server cannot tell a legitimate payment event from a forged one. A failed payment could be treated as successful, triggering fulfilment for an order that was never paid.

Agent Skills prevent this by giving your AI agent the correct integration steps, the right field names, and the exact verification logic Zoho Payments requires.

## How It Works

When you ask an integration question, your AI agent reads the `SKILL.md` first. This is the skill index: it routes your question to the right file. For example:

*   An OAuth question loads `guides/oauth.md`
*   A web integration-related question loads `guides/web.md`
*   A webhook question loads `guides/webhooks.md`
*   A UPI Autopay question loads `guides/mandates.md`

Your AI agent reads that file and generates code with the correct Zoho Payments field names, endpoint paths, and request structure. Each file covers one integration area, so responses stay focused and the agent does not mix up flows. The files use real API field names and actual endpoint paths, not pseudocode.

## Installation

Run the following command in your project folder to install the Zoho Payments skill:

npx skills add https://www.zoho.com/payments/ --yes
```

**Note:** Manually installed skills do not auto-update. Run `npx skills update -y` to get the latest versions.

This installs the `zoho-payments-integration` skill into your project. You can also install from the developer documentation:

1.  Go to the [Zoho Payments developer documentation](/in/payments/developerdocs/) page for the feature you are integrating.
2.  Select **Install Skills** from the **Explore with AI** dropdown.
3.  Copy the command provided.
4.  Paste and run it in your project folder terminal.

## Using Skills in your Workflows

Once installed, ask any Zoho Payments integration question in your AI agent. It reads the `SKILL.md`, loads the relevant file, and returns the correct code, steps, and field names for your question.

Agent Skills guide your AI agent to write the right code. They do not execute actions or make API calls on your behalf.

**Example prompts:**

*   How do I integrate a checkout widget for one-time payments?
*   What is the code to configure a UPI Autopay mandate for monthly recurring charges?
*   How do I verify an incoming webhook using HMAC-SHA256?
*   How do I split payments between a marketplace and a connected seller account?
*   What are the steps to generate an OAuth 2.0 token for sandbox testing?

**Insight:** Your AI agent loads only the file relevant to your question. You do not need to specify which file to use.
