# How do I edit the an existing tax rate?

To edit an existing tax, follow the steps below:

*   Go to **Settings** at the top right corner of the page.
*   Select **Taxes** under _Taxes & Compliance_.
*   In the _Taxes_ pane, select **Tax Rates**.
*   Hover over the existing tax rates.
*   Click the drop-down and choose _Edit_ to update any details. Select the transactions in which the updated tax rates have to be applied in the pop-up.
*   Click **Save**.

**Note:** The default tax rate cannot be edited.
