# Can I create a subscription that started in the past?

Yes, such subscriptions are called backdated subscriptions and you can create them in Zoho Billing. To do so, simply set the **Start Date** field to any date in the past when [creating a subscription](billing/help/sales/subscriptions/subscriptions).
