Chat with Google Gears team on Zoho Offline support

We got a great response for Zoho Writer offline support announcement from our users, bloggers, media....and also from Google Gears team. Members from Google Gears team congratulated us on the integration. We'd like to thank them for their support and are looking forward to working with them closely on this open source project.

We had a great time with Dion Almaer from Google Gears team who visited our offices yesterday to talk about our integration. Here is the video from Google Developers Channel.

Update: Dion talks about this on Google Gears Blog.

  1. Hi Bingo and Oyun,When we started our Offline efforts for Zoho (around 1 year back) we did try out Dojo Offline which was very promising. However at that time dojo was based on local Proxy caching for static files and used Flash storage which did not suit our Offline design. Once Google Gears was released, we found it to be more suited to our offline needs with its support for SQLLite database, Worker pool etc., Also Google backing the plugin and having it open sourced was another a major plus. Its good to see that the latest Dojo offline toolkit is now using Google Gears and also offering more value added APIs. We are keeping track of those developments...Thanks,

  3. After initially playing around with Dojo Offline, I got a full functional proof-of-concept ready in a day. Just curious- did you come across Dojo Offline during your evaluation, and if yes, why wasn’t it considered?bingo
