[Back](./) # What types of users can be selected as approvers? In Zoho Books, the admins have approval access by default. Additionally, you can [create custom roles](https://www.zoho.com/in/books/help/settings/users.html#custom-roles) and grant them approval access. To enable approval access for the new role: * Go to **Settings** in the top right corner of the page. * Select **Roles** under _Users & Roles_. * Click **New Role** in the top right corner. * Enter a suitable **Role Name** and a **Description** if necessary. * Check the **Approve** boxes under _Sales_ and _Purchases_ to give the user the permission to approve transactions. * Click **Save**. Now, the user will have the necessary permissions to approve transactions.
