La segunda Directiva sobre servicios de pago es una actualización de la PSD1 introducida en 2007 por la Autoridad Bancaria Europea. PSD2 tiene como objetivo una fuerte autenticación del cliente (SCA) para pagos y requiere que los bancos compartan datos de los clientes solo a través de proveedores de servicios externos compatibles con PSD2.
