Inventory Valuation Reports

Inventory Valuation reports help you understand the monetary value of your stock and the cost methods driving that value. Go to Reports from the left sidebar, then select Inventory Valuation from the Report Category list.

Inventory Valuation Summary

The Inventory Valuation Summary report shows the stock on hand and total asset value of each item as of the current date. The inventory asset value is calculated based on the costing method assigned to the item:

  • FIFO (First In, First Out): Inventory Asset Value = Stock on Hand × Cost Price Per Unit (earliest purchase).
  • Weighted Average Costing (WAC): Inventory Asset Value = Stock on Hand × Average Cost Price Per Unit.

Scenario: Zylker Manufacturing is preparing its end-of-quarter financial statements. Bailey generates the Inventory Valuation Summary to get the total inventory asset value for the balance sheet, grouped by item and costing method.

To generate this report:

  • Go to Reports from the left sidebar.
  • Select Inventory Valuation from the Report Category list.
  • Click Inventory Valuation Summary.
  • Use the As of dropdown to set the date, add filters if needed, and click Run Report.

This report includes the following columns:

  • ITEM NAME: Name of the inventory item.
  • SKU: Stock Keeping Unit of the item.
  • STOCK ON HAND: Current physical stock quantity across all warehouses.
  • INVENTORY ASSET VALUE: Total monetary value of stock on hand, calculated using the costing method assigned to the item (FIFO or Weighted Average Costing).

FIFO Cost Lot Tracking

The FIFO Cost Lot Tracking report shows every inward and outward stock movement for each item matched according to the First In First Out principle. Use it to verify that stock consumed matches the earliest purchase lots in the correct cost order.

Scenario: Zylker Inc purchased 20 units of a storage unit at £10 each (opening stock), then bought 10 more at £12 each against a bill. When Bailey from Zylker invoices 25 units, FIFO matches the first 20 at £10 (£200) and the remaining 5 from the second lot at £12 (£60), leaving 5 units at £12 available.

To generate this report:

  • Go to Reports from the left sidebar.
  • Select Inventory Valuation from the Report Category list.
  • Click FIFO Cost Lot Tracking.
  • Set a Date Range and any additional filters (item name), then click Run Report.

This report includes the following columns:

  • DATE (Product In): Date on which the stock lot was received.
  • TRANSACTIONS (Product In): Reference number and type of the inward transaction (e.g., Bill, Opening Stock).

  • ITEM NAME: Name of the item.
  • QUANTITY (Product In): Quantity received in the lot.
  • COST PER UNIT: Purchase cost per unit for this lot.
  • TOTAL (Product In): Total purchase cost of the lot (Quantity × Cost Per Unit).
  • DATE (Product Out): Date on which stock from this lot was consumed.
  • TRANSACTIONS (Product Out): Reference number of the outward transaction (e.g., Invoice).
  • DISPERSED TO: Customer or destination to which the lot was despatched.
  • QTY DISPERSED: Quantity consumed from this lot in the outward transaction.
