If your business is based in Nigeria, and you’ve been using the Global edition, you can migrate to the Nigeria edition. This allows you to manage transactions in accordance with Nigeria’s VAT regulations. ## Why Switch to Nigeria Edition? * VAT rates will be auto-populated based on the VAT rules applicable for Nigeria edition. * You can generate and mark your VAT return as filed within Zoho Books and access the report to track VAT payments, penalties, and corrections for any missed sales transactions. * You can enable Tax Automation in your organisation to automatically apply the right VAT rates for your transactions. * * * ## Migrate to Nigeria Edition The migration tool can be accessed only if: * Your Zoho Books organisation belongs to the **Global** edition, and in the _Organisation Profile_ page, the _Organisation Location_ is **Nigeria**, and the _Base Currency_ is **NGN**. * **TDS** is disabled in your organisation. * If you’ve integrated with Zoho Expense, the **Reimbursement Currency** feature in Zoho Expense must be disabled. * If you’ve integrated your organisation with Zoho Inventory, the **POS Integration** in Zoho Inventory must be disabled. You can now access the edition migration tool. Here’s how: * Click **Migrate to Nigeria Edition** on the left sidebar. * In the _Prerequisites_ section, the list of unsupported preferences and integrations will be displayed. You must disable them to proceed with the migration. To disable the integrations: * Click **Proceed to Disable** next to the unsupported integration. You’ll be redirected to the respective integration page. * Click **Disable Integration**. The integrations will be disabled. Similarly, to disable the unsupported preferences: * Click **Proceed to Disable** next to the unsupported preferences. * In the pop-up that appears, the list of unsupported preferences will be displayed. * Click **Disable**. The preferences will be disabled. * Select the required **Tax Preferences for Migration**: * [Migrate Including Tax](/en-ng/books/help/migration/global-to-nigeria-edition-migration.html#migrate-including-tax) * [Migrate Excluding Tax](/en-ng/books/help/migration/global-to-nigeria-edition-migration.html#migrate-excluding-tax) * Once you’ve configured all the preferences, click **Proceed**. * In the confirmation pop-up, click **Proceed** again. ### Migrate Including Tax If your business is VAT-registered, you must provide the VAT details and map the existing VAT rates to the Standard VAT rates and Zero rate in the Nigeria edition. If you’ve selected the tax preference as **Migrate Including Tax**, you’ll be redirected to the _Configure VAT for Nigeria Edition_ page. Provide the following details: * **VAT Registration Number Label**: Enter a label for your VAT registration number as it should appear on invoices, for example, TIN. * **VAT Registration Number**: Enter the VAT registration number issued to your business by NRS (Nigeria Revenue Service). * **Enable trade with contacts outside Nigeria**: Check this option to manage transactions with customers or vendors outside Nigeria. * Provide the date on which you had registered VAT for your organisation. * Provide the date in which you want to generate your first VAT return. * Click **Next**. * In the _Map Tax Rates_ page, map the existing tax rates with the corresponding VAT rates. * Click **Save**. ### Migrate Excluding Tax If your business is non-VAT registered, and you have tax rates enabled in your organisation, you must mark them as inactive and proceed with the migration. Once you migrate to the Nigeria edition, you can either apply the new VAT rates manually, or apply them automatically using Tax Automation. If you’ve selected **Migrate Excluding Tax** as your tax preference, your organisation will be directly migrated to the Nigeria edition. You’ve now migrated your Zoho Books organisation from the Global edition to the Nigeria edition. You can now create and manage transactions as per Nigeria’s VAT regulations.
