When do I need to create a purchase order?

A purchase order is an official document that a customer issues a vendor indicating information about the items they want to buy, their quantities, and their prices.

For example, if you run a furniture business and require a specific type of wood to manufacture a particular model, but it is not currently available in your inventory, you can raise a purchase order to your vendor. The vendor then supplies the required wood based on the purchase order.
