What is a Transaction Posting Date and how does it work?
A Transaction Posting Date is the date on which journal entries are posted for the bills that you create in Zoho ERP.
Let’s say you manage a manufacturing company that purchases raw materials from suppliers. On January 15th, you receive an invoice for the shipment of raw materials. In Zoho ERP, you can create the invoice on January 20th, set the bill date as January 15th, and the transaction posting date as January 20th.
Enable Transaction Posting Date
- Go to Settings in the top right corner.
- Select Bills under Purchases.
- Go to Field Customization tab.
- Hover over Transaction Posting Date, click the dropdown, and select Mark as Active. The field will be enabled for the Bills module.
Once enabled:
- You can enter the transaction posting date while creating bills.
- A column displaying the transaction posting date will appear on the Bills List page.
- When you import bills, there will be a separate column for the transaction posting date. You will also be able to export bills including the transaction posting date in the export file.
- You can create custom views and perform advanced searches with transaction posting date as the filter criteria.
- You can filter AP Aging Summary, AP Aging Details, and Bill Details analytic reports based on the transaction posting date.
