Configure Registers
Before you can start billing customers using the sales module in Retail Store, you must configure at least one register. Register configuration defines how sales are recorded and how payments are collected at a counter.
Create a Register
To create a register:
- Go to Sales Channel on the left sidebar.
- Click Retail Store from the Modules bar and select Registers from the drop down.
- Click + New in the top right corner.
Register Details
Enter the following details while creating a register:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Name | Enter a name to identify the register, such as Billing Counter 1 or First Floor Register. |
| Location | Select the location where this register is used. All sales recorded through this register will be associated with the selected location. |
| Payment Methods | Select the payment methods that can be used at this register, such as cash, cards, or digital payments. |
| Payment Terminals | Select the terminals that can be used to process payments at this register. |
| Default Payment Terminal | Choose the terminal that will be selected by default during billing. |
| Invoice Template | Select the invoice template to be used for sales created from this register. |
Note: Only the payment methods selected for a register will be available during checkout.
Configure Transaction Numbering
Insight: Separate transaction numbering helps auditors trace transactions back to the exact counter where they originated.
You can configure unique transaction numbering for each register. This helps maintain separate and easily identifiable transaction numbers across counters.
For each transaction type, you can configure:
- Prefix – Identifies the register
- Start Number – Starting number for the series
- Preview – Shows how the transaction number will appear
Transaction numbering can be configured for:
- Sales invoices
- Sessions
- Credit notes
After entering all required details:
- Click Save.
The register will now be available for opening sessions and performing POS sales.
Warning: Registers must be active to open sessions and perform retail sales.
