Set Up Multi-Company Management
When you enable multi-company management in an organisation, it becomes the Headquarters. Once enabled, you can add Subsidiaries under it from the Multi-Company Console.
Scenario: Patricia wants to set up multi-company management with:
- Zylker Corporation as the Headquarters
- Zylker Inc. and Zylker Manufacturing as subsidiaries
She completes the setup as follows:
- Enables Multi-Company Management in Zylker Corporation which becomes the headquarters
- Switches to the multi-company console
- Adds Zylker Inc. and Zylker Manufacturing as subsidiaries
Enabling this feature creates two accounts in your chart of accounts to track intercompany transactions:
- Intercompany Accounts Receivable
- Intercompany Accounts Payable
Note:
- The Headquarters cannot be changed once set.
- Once multi-company management is enabled in an organisation, it cannot be disabled.
Prerequisite: Ensure every account in your chart of accounts has an account code as they are required for intercompany transactions.
Enable Multi-Company Management
To enable multi-company management:
- Log in to the organisation you want to set as the headquarters.
- Go to Settings.
- Under Organisation Settings, navigate to Setup & Configurations and select General.
- Click the toggle to enable Multi-Company Management.
- In the pop-up that appears, enter account codes for intercompany accounts.
- Check the I understand that this organisation will be set as the Headquarters for Multi-Company Management option.
- Click Enable.
Multi-company management will be enabled and the current organisation will be set as the headquarters.
Go to Multi-Company Console
Note: Only admins of the headquarters organisation can access multi-company console.
Multi-company console gives you a single place to view and manage financials across all your companies. Once you’ve enabled it, you can switch to it from your headquarters.
To go to multi-company console:
- Log in to the headquarters organisation.
- Go to Settings.
- Under Organisation Settings, navigate to Setup & Configurations and select General.
- Navigate to Multi-Company Management and click Go to Multi-Company Console.
You will be redirected to the multi-company console.
Set Up Multi-Company Console
The multi-company setup is a one time process and the setup includes the following steps:
Manage Multiple Business Groups
A business group constitutes a headquarters and its subsidiaries. Each business group has their own multi-company console. If you want to manage another business group:
- Enable multi-company management in a different organisation. It will become a separate headquarters.
- Switch to its multi-company console.
- Add and manage its subsidiaries independently.
Warning: You cannot add a headquarters or an existing subsidiary as subsidiary under another headquarters. Plan your hierarchy before setup, as it cannot be changed later.
