Job Cards

Job Cards break down each operation in a manufacturing order into individual jobs and allocate them to work centers automatically, based on availability. You assign employees to perform the operations and track both the estimated and actual time taken for each job.

Release Job Cards

Once the MO is confirmed, you can convert to job cards to view the jobs and allocate them

To convert a manufacturing order (MO) to job cards:

  • Navigate to Manufacturing Orders on the left sidebar.
  • Select the confirmed manufacturing order you want to convert to job cards.
  • Click Release Job Cards in the top left corner.
  • Once released, you can view the allocated work center for the job and start the job.

Assign Shopfloor Staff

Once the Job card is released, you can assign one or more employees to perform the job. Based on the duration, the cost for the manufacturing item will be calculated.

To assign an employee,

Prerequisite: Create the shopfloor staff to assign jobs after the job cards are released.

  • Navigate to Manufacturing Orders on the left sidebar.
  • Select the released status manufacturing order you wish to add an shopfloor staff.
  • Navigate to the Job Cards tab in the MO details page.
  • Click the job you wish to assign staff.
  • In the right pane, click Select Shopfloor Staff under the Job Overview section.
  • Choose the staff in the dropdown.
  • Click Update.

Job Cards List View

You can view all the job cards created for Manufacturing Orders (MOs) in the Job Cards module.

To view all job cards,

  • Navigate to Manufacturing Orders on the left sidebar.
  • All job cards created for MOs will be displayed. To apply a status filter:  
    • Click the Job Cards dropdown at the top.
    • Select the required filter.
      • All – View all job cards created for MOs. It is the default view.
      • Not Started – Job cards that are yet to be started.
      • In Progress – Job cards that are currently in progress.
      • Paused – Job cards that are temporarily paused.
      • Completed – Job cards that have been completed.
  • Click Save.

You can also log time for job cards either manually or start time in the job cards module.

Update Serial, Batches and Bins for Item

You can start job cards only after updating the serial numbers, batch details, or bin for the items, if they are enabled. To update the Advanced Inventory tracking and Bins for the items in MO,

  • Navigate to Manufacturing Orders on the left sidebar.
  • Select the manufacturing order you wish to update the tracking and bin details.
  • In the MO’s details page, click Update Details.
  • Click Update for each item and add the details.
  • If the components are serial or batch tracked items, click Select Serial Numbers or Select Batches for the item.
  • If the item to produce is a serial or batch tracked item, add serial or batches for the item.

Log Time

Track the duration taken by the employee/s to complete each job. You can record the duration in two ways,

  • Record Manually
  • Start Timer

Record Manually

You can enter the time your employee spend on a job manually.

To do this,

  • Navigate to Manufacturing Orders on the left sidebar.
  • Select the released manufacturing order you wish to record manually.
  • Navigate to the Job Cards tab in the manufacturing order details page.
  • Click the job you wish to record the duration manually.
  • In the right pane, click the More icon under the Job Overview section.
  • Click Mark as Completed.
  • Enter the Actual Start and End Time, along with the date in the pop-up.
  • Click Save.

Start Timer

Employees can start the timer to record the duration of their assigned job.

To do this,

  • Navigate to Manufacturing Orders on the left sidebar.
  • Select the released manufacturing order you wish to record manually.
  • Navigate to the Job Cards tab in the manufacturing order details page.
  • Click the job you wish to record the time for using a timer.
  • In the right pane, you can view the timer below the Job Overview section.
  • Click Start to start the timer.
  • If you wish to pause, click the Pause button in the timer.
  • Once finished, click the Stop button to record the actual duration.
  • The status of the job will be changed from In Progress to completed after recording the time.

Once the duration is recorded for the job cards, you can view completed job cards actual time taken exceeds the estimated time in the Manufacturing Order (MO) details.

Quality Inspection

If the items in the manufacturing order have any quality rules created and are in active status, click Initiate Quality Checks and complete the manufacturing order.

To do this,

  • Navigate to Manufacturing Orders on the left sidebar.
  • Select the manufacturing order that is in In Progress status you wish to initiate the quality check.
  • Switch to the Quality Checks tab in the manufacturing order details page to view the quality checks.
  • To initiate, click Create Quality Inspection.
