Understanding Move Orders

What is Move Order?

A Move Order is used to transfer an item from one bin to another bin within the same location. It facilitates internal stock movement without involving a sales transaction, purchase transaction, or financial impact. It is purely an internal stock relocation process used to maintain accurate bin-level inventory tracking.

Purpose

Move Orders for bin transfers are used to:

  • Reorganize item within a warehouse
  • Correct bin allocation mistakes
  • Shift stock for operational convenience
  • Maintain accurate bin-wise stock records

Scenario

Scenario: Patricia owns a stationery business where she stores items such as notebooks, pens, and files in different bins within the same warehouse. One of her fast-moving items, A4 notebooks, is stored in Bin A1 near the entrance for easy access. Due to space constraints and better organization, she decides to move 100 A4 notebooks from Bin A1 to Bin B3, which is located in the back storage area. Since this movement happens within the same warehouse and does not involve any sale or purchase, Patricia use Zoho ERP and creates a move order to transfer the stock from one bin to another. This ensures that the bin-wise quantity is updated accurately while the overall warehouse stock remains unchanged.
