Distribution - Overview

In day-to-day sales operations, it can be hard to make sure every market and outlet is covered properly. Sales teams may visit the same places too often, miss some areas completely, or follow different plans on different days. Without a clear structure, planning and tracking field activities becomes difficult.

Distribution helps solve this by organizing how and where your sales team works. It is about dividing the market into regions, planning routes, and deciding which outlets (beats) should be visited and when. With a proper distribution setup, sales teams can follow a clear plan and ensure regular, consistent market coverage.

The Distribution module in Zoho ERP helps you manage all of this in one place. You can create sales regions, define routes under each region, and build journey plans that include specific beats. This makes it easier for field teams to know where to go each day and helps managers track and control sales activities.

The distribution process starts with structuring the market into sales regions, followed by assigning routes within each region to organize movement and coverage. Journey plans are then created and mapped to routes, and beats are generated as part of the journey plan based on the selected journey plan type. For one-time journey plans, a single beat is created, while for recurring journey plans, beats are created dynamically based on the plan’s duration and visit frequency.
