# What is the difference between Transaction locking and Record locking?

**[Transaction locking](https://www.zoho.com/in/books/help/accountant/transaction-lock.html)** freezes all the transactions before the lock period. It can be used to lock modules such as _Sales_, _Purchases_, _Banking_, and _Accountant_.

On the other hand, **[record locking](https://www.zoho.com/in/books/help/settings/preferences.html#record-locking)** allows you to lock a particular transaction. Record locking is available only for invoices and credit notes.
