# I have created a custom field at the customer level, and I want it to be automatically applied when I create an invoice. What should I do?

You can create a custom field at the **invoice** level and use the **Inherit Value** option to automatically pick the value while creating the invoice.

Here’s how you can create a custom field:

1.  Click the **Settings** icon at the top right corner.
2.  Go to _Sales_ and choose **Invoices**.
3.  Select the **Field Customization** tab.
4.  Click **\+ New Custom Field** at the top right corner of the page.
5.  Enter the details and choose the corresponding data type.
6.  Click **Inherit Value** near the _Default Value_ field.
7.  Choose **Customers** from the dropdown and select the required custom field.
8.  Click **Save** to complete the process.

Now, when you create an invoice for a customer, the custom field value from the customer record will be automatically applied to the invoice.
