# How Is the VATEX-EU-AE Code Selected for Intra-Community Invoices?

For intra-community invoices, Zoho Books automatically populates the appropriate VAT exemption code when a 0% tax rate is selected on the transaction.

[Create](https://www.zoho.com/en-fr/books/help/settings/taxes.html#add-tax) and apply a 0% tax rate. If the customer’s billing address is in Belgium and the selected tax rate is 0%, Zoho Books automatically identifies the exemption reason as the applicable **VATEX-EU-AE** code and includes the required regulatory text in the generated PDF.
