# Which Invoice File Should I Rely on When Both an NF525-Signed PDF and a Factur-X File Are Available?

Both files represent the same invoice.

The **NF525-signed PDF** is the legal record stored in Zoho Books. It is captured when the transaction is marked as **Open**, along with a data snapshot and digital signature details such as the software name, version, NF525 certificate number, and selected signature characters.

The **Factur-X file** is generated from the same invoice and includes the invoice details in a structured XML format embedded within the PDF. It is used for e-invoicing or other structured invoice exchange requirements.

Use the Factur-X format wherever it is required, while the NF525-signed PDF remains the legal record in Zoho Books.
