How do I create custom fields for my customers’ or vendors’ contact persons in Zoho Books?

You can create custom fields to capture additional information of your customers’ and vendors’ contact persons. These custom fields are separate from the ones your create for your customers and vendors.

To create custom fields for your contact persons:

  • Go to Settings.
  • Under Module Settings, select Customers and Vendors under General.
  • Navigate to the Field Customisation tab.
  • Click the + New Custom Field dropdown in the top right corner, and select for whom you want to create the custom field. The available options include: For Customers & Vendors, For Customers’ Contact Persons, and For Vendors’ Contact Persons.
  • In the New Custom Field page, enter the required details.
  • Click Save.

The custom field will be created for the contact persons.

Note: To filter the custom fields you created for the contact persons, in the Field Customisation page, click the Show Custom Fields For dropdown at the top and choose the required filter.

To record data for the created custom field:

  • Go to Sales on the left sidebar and select Customers.
  • Select the customer for whose contact person you want to record data in the custom field.
  • In the customer’s Details page, under Contact Persons, click the Gear icon next to the contact person and click Edit.
  • In the pop-up that appears, enter the required data in the custom field.
  • Click Save.

The data will be recorded in the custom field you had created. Similarly, you can also create custom fields for your vendors’ contact persons and record data in them.
