Application settings

Migration guide for application settings

This section lets you locate and configure the application settings in Creator 5 as given below:

Access application settings

In the current version: Navigate to the Application dashboard -> Settings in the left pane.

In Creator 5: 'Settings' is available in the header bar while editing the application. 


Export application

In the current version: Navigate to the Application dashboard -> Settings -> General -> Export application.

In Creator 5: Click Settings in the header bar -> Developer tools -> Application IDE -> Export application.


Set developer for an application

In the current version: Navigate to the Application dashboard -> Settings -> General -> Change Developer -> Enter email address -> Submit.

Where in Creator 5: You can set a Developer for your application either while initating a sharing process or from the 'Users' section in 'Settings.'

  1. To add a Developer during the sharing process:

    Click Share button in the header -> Choose Developer tab -> Enter the email address of the Developer -> Click Share.

     

  2. To add a Developer from the Users section:

    Click Settings in the header bar -> Users and controls -> Users -> Click the drop-down next to the Add Users button -> Add Developer -> Enter the Developer's email address -> Share.


Create a profile and set module-level permissions

In the current version: Navigate to the Application dashboard -> Click Settings on the left pane -> Users and Permissions -> Profiles -> New profile ->  Set the profile name and description -> Set module-level, Import and Export permissions -> Save.

In Creator 5: Profile in the current version is renamed as Permissions in Creator 5. To set permissions:

Click Settings in the header bar -> Users and controls -> Users -> Permissions -> Add Permission -> Enter the permission name and assign permissions for each module -> Save and Associate.


Set field permissions

In the current version: Navigate to the Application dashboard -> Click Settings on the left pane -> Users and Permissions -> Field permissions -> Choose the profile and module ->  Click Edit on top of the fields list table -> Set field permissions for fields -> Save.

Note: You can set field permissions only for the profiles that you have created.

In Creator 5: You can set field permissions for users directly from the Permissions tab. To set:

Click Settings in the header bar -> Users and controls -> Users -> Permissions -> Add Permission -> Enter the permission name and description -> Enable More checkbox for a module -> Click field permissions -> Set field permissions -> Click Done -> Save and associate.


Edit default data sharing permissions

In the current version: Navigate to the Application dashboard -> Click Settings on the left pane -> Users and Permissions -> Advanced sharing settings -> Edit all default permissions ->  Set data sharing permissions for each module -> Save.

In Creator 5: You can edit default data sharing permissions directly from the Roles tab. The Role hierarchy in Creator 5 is disabled by default. You can enable role hierarchy for a module by accessing the Role hierarchy section in the 'Roles' tab. To edit default data sharing permissions:

Click Settings in the header bar -> Users and controls -> Users -> Roles -> Click the drop-down next to the Add role button -> Role Hierarchy -> Enable Role hierarchy for a module -> Choose the Record Owner based on which the role hierarchy should work -> Click Save.


Create new data sharing rule

In the current version: Navigate to the Application dashboard -> Click Settings on the left pane -> Users and Permissions -> Advanced sharing settings -> New sharing rule -> Configure sharing rule -> Create.

Where in Creator 5: Advanced sharing settings is renamed as Data sharing. To create a new data sharing rule:

Click Settings in the header bar -> Users and controls -> Users -> Data sharing -> Click New share rule button -> Name the rule -> Choose the form in which the rule should work -> Set record sharing permission -> Set level of access -> Click Save.

Note: The Data sharing rule defined in a form will overwrite the default role hierarchy displayed in the Roles section for that respective form.


Setup translation

In the current version: Navigate to the Application dashboard -> Click Settings on the left pane -> Translation.

In Creator 5: Translation is renamed as Localization. To access:

Click Settings in the header bar -> Data administration -> Localization.


Access live chat

In the current version: Navigate to the Application dashboard -> Click Settings on the left pane -> Live chat -> Enable -> Configure chat settings.

In Creator 5: This feature is deprecated.


Manage sections

In the current version: Navigate to the Application dashboard -> Click Settings in the left pane -> Sections.

In Creator 5: Navigate to the Design in the header bar -> Sections icon displayed on top of the component preview area.


Customize search listing

In the current version: Navigate to the Application dashboard -> Click Settings in the left pane -> Search.

In Creator 5: This feature is deprecated.
