# How do I update opening stock?

**Opening stock** is the item’s initial quantity and cannot be edited once you’ve made changes to the initial stock / inventory tracking. To change stock levels afterward, use **Manage Stocks** (Increase By / Decrease By / Set as) rather than the opening stock field.
