# Can I set a different tax rate for individual items?

Yes, you can set a tax rate at the item level. To do this:

1.  Go to **Items** and open or create the item.
2.  In the **Item Details** section, find the **Intra State Tax Rate** and **Inter State Tax Rate** fields.
3.  Select the applicable tax rate from each dropdown.
4.  You can also enter an **HSN/SAC** code for the item if required.
5.  Click **Save**.

The tax rates set here apply to this item specifically, overriding the store’s default tax settings.
