Locations
In Zoho Commerce, the Locations feature helps you categorise transactions, manage inventory, track financial performance, and allocate stocks based on Business and Warehouse Locations. There are two types of locations in Zoho Commerce:
- Business Location
- Warehouse location
Business Location
A business location is either a branch or location where your business is primarily operated. You can set up a five-level hierarchy with the Business Location as the primary level. In this structure, the Business Location serves as the head office, managing all associated branches, warehouses, and transaction stocks.
Warehouse Location
A warehouse location is a physical place where inventory is stored and managed. They are used specifically for stock tracking. You can associate a Warehouse with a Business Location, but a Warehouse location cannot have sub-locations.

Location Based Stock Preferences
Zoho Commerce allows you to setup how stocks can be managed for a store based on the location. The stock can be restricted in two ways:
- Online Store Locations
- Shipping Zone Locations.
Online Store Locations
Online store locations refer to the locations where fulfilment of orders placed through your online store are handled. By default, all the locations which are created in Zoho Commerce will be created as an online store location.
Here’s how you can mark a location to fulfil online orders:
- Go to Settings in the top right corner.
- Select Locations under Organisation.
- Select a location.
- Enable Fulfil online orders from this location to mark the location as an online store location.
- Click on Save.
Scenario: John has ten warehouses across the country, but he fulfils online orders from only five of them. The remaining five are used exclusively for his offline stores. He can mark the five active warehouses as online store locations. When a customer places an order, the system checks for stock in the warehouse closest to the delivery address among the online store locations. If none of these warehouses have the item in stock, the customer will not be able to place the order.
You can enable the option to limit stock based on online store locations by following the below steps:
- Go to Settings in the top right corner.
- Select Locations under Organisation.
- Click Location Based Stock Preferences.
- Make sure Restrict out of stock purchases is enabled.
- Select Limit stock to online store locations.

- Click on Save.
Shipping Zone Locations
Shipping zone locations are the locations which are associated with shipping zones in Zoho Commerce.
Here’s how you can create a new shipping zone and associate a location with it:
- Go to Settings in the top right corner.
- Click Shipping & Pickup under Sales.
- Click + New on the top right.
- Enter a Title for the shipping zone.
- Under Country/Region choose the countries you want to deliver to.
- Choose states you want to select under State.
- Enable Provide zip code at state level if you want to specify zip codes.
- Select the location which you want to associate with this shipping zone.
- Click Save.
Scenario: Patricia ships products across the country, but the delivery rates and availability vary by region. To manage this, she creates different shipping zones based on location. Each shipping zone includes a group of zip codes or regions that share the same shipping rules.
Only the locations assigned to a shipping zone will be considered for fulfilling orders. When a customer enters their delivery address, the system identifies the relevant shipping zone and applies the corresponding shipping rate and delivery options. If the address doesn’t fall under any shipping zone, or if none of the locations in that zone have stock, the customer won’t be able to place the order.
You can enable the option to limit stock based on shipping zones by following the below steps:
- Go to Settings in the top right corner.
- Select Locations under Organisation.
- Click Location Based Stock Preferences
- Make sure Restrict out of stock purchases is enabled.
- Select Limit stock to shipping zone locations.

- Click on Save.
