# I have chosen the preference to close my sales order when the shipment is fulfilled. Why is my sales order closed even before creating the packages and shipments?

If the sales order contains only the **Service-type** item, then its status changes to **Closed**, and the shipment will be marked as **Fulfilled** automatically upon confirmation of sales order.
