# Why am I unable to change the customer name on a payment received?

You cannot change the customer details in a payment received. If you have recorded the payment incorrectly, you need to [delete the payment received](/books/help/payments-received/other-actions.html#delete) and [create a new one](/books/help/payments-received/basic-functions.html#record-payment) with the correct customer details.
