What is VeriFactu?
VeriFactu is a new invoicing standard from the Spanish tax authority (AEAT) to standardise invoicing in Spain. VeriFactu was introduced as part of the Anti-Fraud Law implementation. It provides the technical and procedural framework for compliant invoicing in Spain. Under this system:
- All invoices must be generated using certified invoicing software that meets AEAT’s technical specifications.
- Each invoice must be signed, timestamped, and traceable, ensuring data integrity.
- Businesses can optionally push invoices directly to AEAT in real time through the VeriFactu system, or store them locally in a VeriFactu-compatible format for later submission.
