Planned maintenance of our US Data Center: December 17th to December 23rd, 2016

Maintenance Update: December 14th, 2016

You might have read our post about the cyclone in Chennai. Thank you for all the wishes and concern. We are recovering fast and things are slowly getting back to normal. Due to this, we had to postpone our maintenance activity by a week. Maintenance will now be carried out from Dec 23rd to Dec 30th, 2016. As mentioned earlier, we do not expect any service disruption but will keep you posted here. Wishing you a Happy Holiday season!

Maintenance Update: Dec 7th, 2016

Dear Customers,

Earlier this year, we made a decision to set up a new US data center with greater bandwidth through upgraded WAN links, better and powerful application and storage servers with sufficient head room for future growth.

In September, we tested this new US data center successfully, by switching and serving all our apps from the new facility, before we switched back to our primary data center. The test was accomplished with minimal service disruptions. Please refer to this related post.

As  indicated in September, our plan is to make the switch permanent in December. This maintenance is scheduled to run from December 17th to December 23rd. You can continue using all Zoho services during this period and we do not expect major service disruptions. However, we will continue to monitor things very closely. We will be serving all Zoho apps and services from this new facility once the maintenance is complete and I'll update this blog post.

There will be no maintenance in our EU data center and all services will operate normally.

As always, we thank you for your business and continued support for Zoho. We remain committed to continually improving our operations and infrastructure facilities to best serve your business.

  1. Hi Peter! is there anyway we can KEEP Zoho Basic email the way it is? I don't like new email, and have kept using the Basic as it has everything I need. Please don't change things... that's why I came to you all in the first place was because yahoo and gmail are constantly changing things and it makes it impossible to keep up. I LOVE that I can have several emails open at the same time, I love your Template Feature... if there's anyway I can PAY for my service with Zoho, and NOT have anything change, I'd be SO HAPPY!

  2. I am thankful to you all for this service and I hope to continue to use it. I would have no other way to view my excel documents if it weren't for you all because numbers doesn't always read excel files correctly. I thank you all for all you do.

  3. It means I continue using a baisic service as zoho mail while you're upgrading from December 17th to December 23rd (I can send and reicive email from my zoho mail normally). If zoho mail service is interupted, let me know that.

  4. Hi Peter, we would prefer to use the EU datacenter as the connection to your US service is very slow. I sometimes have to wait 10-20 seconds for pages to load at the CRM and my own internet connection is not the problem, I have highspeed access to all other internet services. Please advice.

    1. @Daniel, There shouldn't be any page loading issues from EU location. We haven't heard it from other customers in EU. We will check it out.

  5. How does that affect our privacy? The US has terrible privacy violations that go against human rights. They spy and track all emails. How are you ensuring our privacy?

  6. It's my understanding that the old system will be gone, and we have to use the new one. For me, personally, I find the new system more cumbersome.

  7. Thank you for the notification. We are new email clients and happy thus far. My only complaint is how difficult it is to get help via phone or email. I've found the few emails I sent take almost a week to replied to. That doesn't seem like an organization that cares about retaining business once they have won it.

  8. Best wishes for success, Peter. I appreciate Zoho's successful efforts to compete in this market. Kick yahoo's and gmail's asses ! Bruce

  9. A month ago was searching suitable webmail for my technical team. Your services and such approach is commendable. Keep up the good work.

  10. we love your service, and we are encouraging our clients to use it. but one weak point is that the uploaded files to be attached are very small, i m using a paid service, and still the attached file is max 40 meg !!

      1. We don't use Zoho email however I think it's generally accepted huge email attachments are a bad idea Camille; even if you can SEND them most receiving systems won't accept more than 20MB so I can't see there's much point in Zoho upping the (already generous) limit of 40MB...

    1. @James, we are switching our existing US Datacenter to new Datacenter. There are customers worldwide in our US Datacenter. Recently we starting operating EU Datacenter and customers have started to signup to our EU DataCenter as well.

  11. Thank you for your dedication to improving our experience. You have made our lives so much easier and assisted in getting us that big check, you deserve a week or 2 off! (even though I won't be looking forward to any interruptions, as I have faith the transition will be smooth as silk). Keep up the real work, and thanks again.

  12. Please try to update your system in a way that it can enable users to send large sized files ( i can't even send my company's profile to clients in PDF file which is only of 11.4 MB).

  13. Thank you for the notice. I use zoho intensely (about one third private, two thirds business, if only small) and, until now, have been most satisfied by the Service.

  14. Thanks for always keeping your clients so well informed and providing such great service. Zoho is my primary work mail communication and I couldn't ask for better service. Thank you.

  15. Hello. Just curious...why would you update a CRM tool during what most likely is the busiest week of the entire year for sales activity? Seems to be there could be a better time for an update. I know outages are not expected but I think a different time would be wiser.

    1. @Paul, I agree, but please be assured that we have taken extreme measures to avoid any service disruption and we are doing it carefully.

  16. As one of your very earliest users of CRM when we switched from TeleMagic many years ago, Zoho has been a great and developing product. Keep listening to your clients and you will not go wrong!

  17. Thanks for the update and close monitoring during your transition. I use Zoho for my business communications. It has been top notch so far and I look forward to continued great service.

  18. Just continue to love your company and products. Cleanest e-mail option available. As an educator, the most user friendly too. Thanks to all of your team sir. Respectfully, Bob

    1. @Enya, your data is hosted in US. We recently launched EU data center and customers who signed up at zoho.eu will be directed to EU data center.

  19. Dear Mr.Balaji, As mentioned above the ZOHO services will be avaliable uninteruppted but i am unable to add my events for the day and my this week's customer visit updates . I am getting an advertisement of Amazon etc on the right hand of the screen just above the tasks & Events .Could you let me know why is it happening so ?

  20. Thanks for the heads up as many people said 24th to 31st would have been better .But thanks anyway . doinga great job and i am sure we will have a better 2017 at Zoho

  21. Good Morning Peter - I just wanted to confirm that we are all good for operating the updated CRM programme - I have been using it for a few weeks now but when one of my colleagues logged in she got a notification that the current system expires on the 15th December - I just wanted to be sure my company has done what is required to continue using CRM without disruption from next week. If you can confirm by return email that would be greatly appreciated.

  22. Muchas gracias por la información. Estamos muy contentos, satisfechos y agradecidos con el excelente servicio que prestan ustedes.

    1. @Reuben, if you are paying through credit card, the subscription renewal will be automatic. However, we send reminder e-mails before your subscription is renewed. You can cancel it at anytime.

  23. Peter, you should consider a career in politics, this letter says nothing of any relevance to users. I presume that this means that the service will be worse than usual for this period?

    1. whose a grumpy old man there Graham. Majority of us love ZOHO. Chat with support if its so bad or mmmm go pay four times as much and get Salesforce :-) . Then you will have something to complain about...

    2. @Graham, No, it will not be worse. The reason for switching to new DC is to make it even more better. The services will operate normally during this time.

  24. We have had zoho for a number of years. Hopefully you will have more training available in the US. or more UTube sessions.

  25. Many thanks. On a indirectly related matter, is there any capability for clients to move their data from their CRM on US Servers to EU servers Peter?

  26. As someone who just started using Zoho regularly a few days ago, I appreciate your clear communication & inclusion of us in what's going on. Thank you.

  27. Thanks for the update Peter. It's always nice to have advance notice of possible disruptions or notice from Zoho when there is a disruption before we unsuspectingly run into it on our own. Keep up the good work!

  28. We are extremely grateful for this huge efforts on your part. We wish you great success in this endeavor and we think Zoho will always acompany its clients in their growth effort
