Use Zoho Wiki as your Business Portal

In the last post about Zoho Wiki, we saw how Zoho Wiki can act both as a help authoring tool and to host the help documentation. Zoho Wiki can be used to host business portals also. We will see a couple of examples below.

ManageEngine is the flagship brand of AdventNet. And ManageEngine has a separate portal for its partners, called ManageEngine Partner Zone. This portal is hosted on Zoho Wiki.

As you can see, the web site's look and feel is completely customized. And some of the pages there require authentication to view. Thanks to the fine-grained access control provided by Zoho Wiki, you can have a web site where some pages are visible to all visitors of your site (in ManageEngine's case, visitors who are interested in becoming partners) and other pages are made accessible to a defined set of people (to those who end up becoming ManageEngine's partners).

The Zoho Alliance Partner Portal (ZAPP) isĀ on Zoho Wiki too (requires login for viewing).

Other than the above partner portals, ManageEngine's MSP Center Plus documentation is also a wiki.

How are you using Zoho Wiki?

  1. Kevin : We had an update in Zoho Wiki which made it easier to do the configuration. Kindly refer to this blog post. See if this suffices.

  3. Any progress on the blog post for using the CSS option? Or, do you know anyone I could pay to get the look and feel right for my wiki web site?

  5. Hugo & Eric : We'll have a blog post soon on how to customize Zoho Wiki, especially using the CSS option.Dave : Import into Zoho Wiki isn't in our immediate set of to-dos but it is in our mid to long term roadmap (we already support exporting all Zoho Wiki pages as a zip). This is subject to change and we may have it sooner if more users like you ask for it. And yes, we'll add the "track comments via email" too.

  7. I have 500+ pages in VoodooPad on my desktop machine. I would like to consider exporting to something other than MediaWiki (best import system I've seen to date.) How would I republish from my desktop to Zoho wiki?Add "track comments via email" please, I'm not coming back any time soon.

  9. As a paying user of Zoho wiki it would be great to see how to get this level of customization on our corporate portal. Using both the private and public wiki setups the current "default" layouts described above give a very different feel for what those two companies have built. I understand modifying the CSS is an option, but some help is needed. Setting up those custom layouts would be great - including RSS - all things that we would love to do but do not have the resources.

  11. ArvindI have some level of costumization already (#.... But it is exactly as you say: "Maximum customization is possible since Zoho Wiki allows specifying your own CSS" the issue where I need your help. There is a warning: "If you do not how to use CSS, better do nothing" (or something like that. For example, I want to hide Control Panel...If you come with a blog dealing with that particular kind of costumization - at the genuine "zoho style" (making things easy for non experts), it would be great. Thanks for your quick answer!Hugo.

  13. Hugo : Thanks for your appreciation! For changing the wiki skin color, click on the 'Settings' and choose 'Wiki Skins' tab at the left. You can choose from 5 colors - Default, Paddy, Sea, Apple or Grey. For layout, choose the 'Customization' tab. You can specify whether you want the navigation bar (the side panel) to the left or right. And you can change your wiki logo/title, top/bottom panels too. Maximum customization is possible since Zoho Wiki allows specifying your own CSS.For all these operations, you need to be signed in as the Administrator (the owner of the wiki). Hope that helps. We'll come up with a separate blog post on how to carry out the various customization options.
